``Northern Wilderness opens at Westfield Shoppingtown Midway
In the tradition of "Into the Sea" and "Safari: An African Adventure", the Lorain County Metro Parks is pleased to announce its 2003 exhibit, "Northern Wilderness." Once again hosted at the Westfield Shoppingtown Midway [formerly the Midway Mall], "Northern Wilderness" opens January 31, 2003 and closes on April 6, 2003.
The Lorain County Metro Parks is proud to present this exhibit of great and wild proportions. Take a hike through the living pine, fir and spruce forest. See mountains, beaver ponds and a waterfall. Crawl through a beaver lodge and hike up to a bear cave. See full-sized taxidermy of black bear, moose and beaver. Watch with wonder as live hawks, owls and other animals of the boreal forest tell their stories up close and personal.
The hours of this exhibit will be 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is still only $1.00 per person.
School teachers and group leaders are encouraged to schedule a Northern Wilderness program for their classroom or group. These programs are a great way to reinforce a visit to "Northern Wilderness." All programs take place at Westfield Shoppingtown Midway and are available free of charge. Students in preschool through Grade 2 can enjoy "Beaver Teeth and Moose Horns," Grades 1 - 3 can discover "There's a Moose in my Muskeg" and Grades 3 - Adult, "Deep Snow and Deep Sleep: Making a Living in the Northern Wilderness."
