Library book sale

The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be Saturday, May 6 through Monday, May 8 during library hours.

Storyteller pays a visit

Mr. Hatbox, popular storyteller, will be at the Avon Branch Library Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. The free program is ideal for all ages. The event is in celebration of National Library Week.

Decisions and more decisions

The Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 will meet tonight at 8 p.m. at 36950 Mills Road to make plans for a ham raffle set for Saturday at 8 p.m. The Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Monday to plan Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 22.

Health screenings

The Avon Recreation Department and St. John West Shore Hospital will have health screenings Tuesday at Avon City Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Ladies to tee off

The Avon Ladies Golf League will begin its season Wednesday, May 3 at 9 a.m. at Sweetbriar Golf Course, Avon Lake. A picnic will be Wednesday, April 26 at 10 a.m. Call Norma Gladish at 937-5822.

Avon schools lunch menu from April 13 to 20 includes:

ELEMENTARY

- Today: Deli sandwich, pineapple tidbits

- Friday: Nachos, buttered corn, fruit cocktail

- Monday: Cheeseburger, tator tots, applesauce

- Tuesday: Chicken patty sandwich, peas and carrots, fruit cup

- Wednesday: Cheese pizza, green beans, pineapple tidbits, cake

- Thursday: Spring break begins

MIDDLE SCHOOL

- Today: Mini corndogs, broccoli, corn chips, diced pears

- Friday: Nachos, buttered corn, fruit cocktail, cinnamon churro

- Monday: Double cheeseburger, fries, applesauce

- Tuesday: Chicken patty sandwich, diced carrots, fruit cup

- Wednesday: Cook's choice

- Thursday: Spring break begins

HIGH SCHOOL

- Today: Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, roll with butter, diced peaches

- Friday: Nachos, buttered corn, fruit cocktail, cinnamon churro

- Monday: Double cheeseburger, fries, applesauce

- Tuesday: Cheese and bean quesdadilla, green beans, pineapple tidbits

- Wednesday: Chicken patty sandwich, diced carrots, fruit cup, cake

Rummage and bake sale

A one day rummage and bake sale will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 2260 Garden Drive, Avon, Thursday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blood drive at fitness center

The EMH Center for Health & Fitness, on Healthway Boulevard off Detroit Road, will host a blood drive through the Lorain County Blood Bank Wednesday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A driver's license or state ID is needed.
