Libraries' ideas exchange
Friends of Area Libraries will meet Saturday, Sept. 16 at Avon Branch Library for a luncheon meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an ideas exchange. People interested will share ideas to help promote the growth of the library. For information, contact Kathy Peterson at 934-4512.
Join Investment Club
The Detroit Road Investment Club will meet in the parlor of the Avon United Methodist Church Sunday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. Guests are welcome.
Nutty fund-raiser, open house
On Monday, Sept. 18 the Avon High School Band annual Peterson nut sale begins at 7:35 a.m. in the high school. Also Monday, the Avon High School open house will be at 7 p.m.
Learn about day lilies
The Avon Garden Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in Avon Branch Library to hear John Soucek speak from Angelica Gardens on day lilies. Guests are welcome.
School board meeting
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the regular meeting of the Avon Board of Education will be at 7:30 p.m. at Avon Middle School Library, 3075 Stoney Ridge Road.
Membership open house
The Avon Junior Women's Club will have its annual membership open house, Monday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Community Center, Eaton Drive. There will be refreshments, raffles and door prizes. Mary Ellen Piazza of Piazza's Floral Greenhouse will be the featured speaker regarding what's new for fall decorating. For more information, call Nancy Bondy at 934-4618.
Public hearing
The Avon Planning Commission will meet Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Avon City Hall with a public hearing at 7:15 p.m., with the regular meeting following at 7:30 p.m. The public hearing involves a residential subdivision proposed by James Caldwell, Hawkesbury Subdivision, including 10 lots.
Church's chicken dinner
Holy Trinity Church's annual chicken dinner will be from noon to 4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church Hall, 2610 Nagel Road, Sunday, Sept. 24.
Zoning board to meet
The Avon Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in Avon City Hall.
