Board of Education meeting

The Avon Board of Education will meet in Avon Middle School Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m., for their regular meeting.

School conferences set

Parent-Teacher conferences will be scheduled at Avon Middle School for Monday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m.

Starting a business talk

A business program entitled, ''I Want To Be My Own Boss: Starting a Small Business'' will be tonight at 7 p.m. The program is free, but preregistration is required by calling the Avon Branch Library at 934-4743.

Picture frame craft

Adults and teens can learn to make picture frames during a craft program, Saturday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. A $5 materials fee is required at the time of registration.

Lunch menu selection

Here's what's served for lunch in the Avon schools from Nov. 16 to 23:

Avon East and Village schools

- Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage, hashbrowns, orange juice

- Friday: Chicken nuggets, potato mounds with gravy, green beans, applesauce

- Monday: Chicken sandwich, potato wedges, cinnamon pears

- Tuesday: Grilled cheese, tomato soup, celery sticks with whipped peanut butter, fruit cocktail

- Wednesday: No school

- Thursday: No school

Avon Middle and High schools

- Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage pattie, hashbrowns, orange juice

- Friday: Chicken nuggets or corn dogs, buttered corn, cinnamon pears

- Monday: Grilled cheese with tomato soup, tator tots, fruit

- Tuesday: Chef's choice

- Wednesday: No school

- Thursday: No school

St. Mary's P.T.U. annual Craft Nook

St. Mary's P.T.U. annual Craft Nook will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 at St. Mary's School, 2640 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon.

There will be baked goods and home-cooked foods available for carry out.

Door prizes are included in the festivities.

Admission is $1 for ages 12 and up. Admission for ages under 12 is free.

Lighting the Avon City Christmas Tree

Santa will make an appearance and light the Avon City Christmas tree at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the gazebo at Heritage Square in the French Creek District.

The Avon High School Choir and Select Ensemble will entertain merrymakers with Christmas carols.

The event is sponsored by the French Creek Development Association, the Avon Lion's Club and the Historical Society.

Candlelight Walk

There will be three days to enjoy the event: From 7 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 1, From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Craft shows and gift boutiques bursting with beautiful antiques will make it hard to go home empty-handed.

There will be caroling and Lolley the Trolley will provide shuttle transportation.
