Church hosts Community Day
The New Baptist Church will celebrate its one-year effort of ''Acts of Kindness.'' The congregation invites the public to attend their Community Day Sunday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Avon Middle School.
Book talk slated
The Tuesday Afternoon Book Group will meet Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library to discuss ''The Hungry Ocean.'' Copies of the book are available for study.
Academic boosters meet
The Avon High School Academic Booster Club will meet Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Avon High School at 7 p.m.
Library book sale
A book sale, sponsored by the Friends of Avon Library, will be Nov. 3, 4 and 5 during library hours. Set-up time is Thursday, Nov. 2. Memberships are available anytime at the library at 37485 Harvest Drive.

Moms, daughters and books
Mothers and their daughters who are in the fourth through sixth grades are invited to join the Mother/Daughter Book Group on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The group will meet at the Avon Branch Library at 7:30 p.m. Copies of ''Catherine Called Birdy'' are available at the library.

Basketball program offered
A Little Eagles Basketball program will be offered for any child in grades three, four, five or six or any child at least 8 years old before Dec. 1 who attends Avon schools, or lives in the city. Registration will take place on Saturdays, Nov. 4 and Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Avon High School cafeteria.
