School's open house

Open House activities will be tonight at Avon East Elementary School beginning at 7.

City Council meeting

Avon City Council will hold its regular meeting Monday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers.

Homecoming festivities

Homecoming activities planned by Avon High School students will begin tonight with the traditional parade, including many floats created by classes and school organizations, at Avon Village School at 6:15 p.m.

The parade route will travel through Garden Drive south to Avon Middle School, culminating in a cheerleading program and a bonfire as the start of the Homecoming Weekend festivities.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the football game Friday night [9-22-00] and the Homecoming dance will be in Avon High School Commons Saturday evening.

Athletic Hall of Fame talk

The Avon Athletic Department will hold an open discussion concerning the Avon Athletic Hall of Fame at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 in the upstairs lecture hall at Avon High School. Brent Betts, athletic director, has set the establishment of a Hall of Fame as one of his important goals this year. No nominations will be taken at this time, but input will be accepted from anyone attending the meeting.

Rummage, bake sale

The fall rummage/bake sale of Faith Lutheran Church, 2265 Garden Drive, Avon, will be Thursday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a variety of household goods, as well as home-baked goodies.

Books for Babies'

If there is a newborn in the family up to 12 months, the Avon Branch Library has a free ''Books for Babies'' bag for you. The bag includes two books to share with the baby, a bib and a suggested list of additional newborn books. The bags are supplied through a Nord Family Foundation Grant.
