Apply for scholarship
The Avon Women's Club is accepting applications for its annual $500 scholarship for a graduating senior from Avon. The award will be granted to a prospective college student who has demonstrated average to above-average academic skills as well as involvement in volunteering and extracurricular activities in the school and the community. Application forms are available from the Avon High School guidance office or by calling Helen Schatschneider at 937-5075. Deadline is April 21.
A night at the races
St. Mary Church is sponsoring an 'Evening at the Races' at Tom's Country Place, 3540 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon, on Saturday, Feb. 5, post time at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include races, set-ups, light buffet and dancing. Reservations are necessary. Tickets are available from Lenore Cothran, 327 7216; Ken Recko, 934-4896; Avon Home Decorating, 934-4000; or St. Mary Church, at 934-4212. Proceeds benefit St. Mary Church and School.
