Tax tip program

Wendy Wills will present a free program, 'Tax Tips 2000,' Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library, 37486 Harvest Drive. Preregistration is necessary by calling 934-4743.

Boosters book fair

Avon Middle School Boosters will hold a book fair April 7, 10, 11 and 12 in the auditorium. The book fair is open to the public.

Here's a look at what's cooking in the Avon schools from March 30 to April 6:

ELEMENTARY

- Today: Corn dog, baked beans, diced pears, cookie

- Friday: Macaroni and cheese, tossed salad, peach cup

- Monday: French toast sticks, hashbrowns, sausage patty, fruit Danish, orange juice

- Tuesday: BBQ rib sandwich, fries, cherry crisp

- Wednesday: Cheese pizza, buttered corn, applesauce

- Thursday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, bread stick, orange shape up

MIDDLE

- Today: Corn dogs, tator tots, grapes

- Friday: Macaroni and cheese, fresh vegetable salad, fruit cup

- Monday: French toast sticks, hash browns, sausage patty

- Tuesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, bread stick, orange shape up

- Wednesday: Beef and bean burrito, buttered corn, applesauce

- Thursday: BBQ rib sandwich, fries, cherry crisp

HIGH SCHOOL

- Today: Double cheeseburger, tator tots

- Friday: Tuna pita or chicken patty sandwich

- Wednesday: Beef and bean burrito, buttered corn, applesauce

- Thursday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, bread stick, orange shape up

Easter Seals fund-raiser

Teen help will be auctioned at the Easter Seals' Youth Auction Saturday, April 8, starting at 5 p.m. at the EMH Center for Health & Fitness, Healthway Boulevard, Avon. Teens from Avon, Avon Lake, Elyria, Lorain and Sheffield Lake will be involved. Included are lawn care, child care and many other services. The proceeds will benefit the Easter Seals programs for people with disabilities. Admission is $2 and will include silent and live auctions, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and tours of the facility. Attend PTA meeting

The Avon East Elementary School PTA will meet Monday, April 10 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Band Boosters get together

Avon High School Band Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 in Avon Commons.

Musical production

Avon Village School first-grade students are preparing a musical called 'It's A Jungle Out There!' It will be presented Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Parents and public are invited.

Floral arrangement talk

The Isabella Guild will have an evening Wednesday, April 12 with Bill Hixson of Hixson's Flowers in Lakewood. A frequent florist to the White House, Hixson will share his expertise, hints and humor on spring floral arrangements.

The event will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1783 Moore Road, at 7 p.m. The cost is $7.50. Call Mary Jane at 937-5283 or Marian at 934-6639 for tickets.

CPR class offered

The Avon Recreation Department and Tim Golay of the Avon Fire Department will hold a Basic Heart Saver CPR class Saturday, April 15 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Avon Community Center, Eaton Drive. The class size will be limited to 19 people with the minimum age requirement of 16. The cost is $15 per person. To register, please call Donna Russian, Avon Recreation coordinator, at 934-5044 by April 14.

Avon Junior Women's Club $1,000 college scholarship

A candidate must be an Avon woman at least 21 years old. To obtain an application, call 937-5250 or 937-6583

Avon Library

Parents with babies who are one-year-old or younger can pick up a free goody bag containing a bib, reading list, book, and other small gifts. The Books for Babies program is funded through a Nord Family Foundation grant.

Friends of the Avon library will meet on April 5 at 7 p.m.

"Tis'' by Frank Mccourt will be discussed on April 5 at 7 p.m.

Mr. Hatbox will entertain with songs and stories 4-15-00 at 2 p.m.
