Avon Garden Club

The Avon Garden Club will meet Tuesday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in the Avon Branch Library. A special program has been planned featuring Selene Loomis of Green Mist Gardens, Chardon. Guests are welcome. For additional information, call Delores at 937-5984 or Nancy at 934-7802.

Library book sale

A super book sale will be held by the Avon Branch Library on Friday, March 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, March 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, March 25, 1 to 4 p.m. Friends of the Library preview is on Thursday, March 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. Anyone wishing to become a member can do so on March 22. Volunteers are needed. The library is accepting book donations the week of the sale.

Planning Commission meeting

The Avon Planning Commission meets Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in Avon City Hall, Chester and Center roads.

Men's Fellowship breakfast

The Avon United Methodist Church Men's Fellowship breakfast will be Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, Detroit Road by I-90.

Avon Village and East elementary:

-- Today: French toast sticks, sausage patty, hash browns, orange juice, milk

-- Friday: Cheese dippers with sauce, seasoned corn, cinnamon pears, emerald cupcake, milk

-- Monday: Soft beef taco with lettuce and tomato, Spanish rice, fruity cocktail, milk

-- Tuesday: Meaty lasagna, Caesar salad, diced pears, milk

-- Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza, green beans, pineapple tidbits, milk

-- Thursday: Mini corn dogs, tater tots, cherry shape-up, granola bar, milk

Avon Middle School:

-- Today: Chicken fingers with oven fries or cottage cheese and fruit with muffin, milk

-- Friday: Veggie pizza or fish nuggets with macaroni and cheese, trail mix, emerald cupcake, milk

-- Monday: Soft meat taco with Spanish rice or taco salad in a boat, fresh fruit salad, milk

-- Tuesday: Cheese ravioli, breadstick, garden salad, cinnamon pears, milk

-- Wednesday: Turkey gravy with potatoes, green beans, applesauce, milk

-- Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage patties, hash browns, orange juice, milk

Avon High School:

-- Today: French dip with oven fries or cottage cheese and fruit with muffin, milk

-- Friday: Veggie pizza or fish and chips, trail mix, emerald cupcake, milk

-- Monday: Chicken patty on bun or 2-4-1 corn dog, tater tots, fruit punch, milk

-- Tuesday: Cheese ravioli, breadstick, garden salad, cinnamon pears

-- Wednesday: Turkey gravy with potatoes, green beans, applesauce, milk

-- Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage patties, hash browns, orange juice, milk

School board to meet

The Avon Board of Education will meet Tuesday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the library of Avon Middle School.

Well Child Clinic

The Well Child Clinic will be held at the Avon United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22.

Investment group convenes

The Avon Investment Club will meet on Sunday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Avon Branch Library. Guests are welcome.

Spring health fair

A ''Spring-into-good health'' fair will be Sunday, March 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Avon United Methodist Church. Free screening will be offered for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, vision/glaucoma and colorectal cancer.

The fair is being hosted by the Parish Nurse Program of Fairview, Lakewood and Lutheran hospitals and Avon United Methodist Church. Call the church office at 934-5121 for information.

Avon antique show

The Heart of Avon Antique show is set for Sunday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tom's Country Place, 3442 Stoney Ridge Road. Admission is $4. For more information, call Sue Hanson at 871-7477.

March Magic fund-raiser

Avon Junior Women's Club will be holding its annual fund-raiser, March Magic, on Saturday, March 31. March Magic will be held at Wagner's Country Inn on Center Ridge Road, Westlake.

Tickets for the event are $30 and can be purchased by calling Sheila Wilson at 934-5412. The fund-raiser will benefit the Avon Public Library, Avon Community Center renovation, Safety Town and the Avon Junior Women's Club college scholarship fund. For more information, call Kim Sulen at 937-5085.

St. Mary's fish fry

St. Mary's Lenten Fish Fry will be held on March 23 at Tom's Country Place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Carry-outs will be available. Fried Lake Erie perch or broiled walleye will be available. The cost per dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Tickets are available at the door or from the following Avon locations: Smitty s Barbershop, Ray's Auto & Truck, St. Mary's Rectory, Avon Home Decorating and Bommer Insurance.

Safety Town

Registration for Avon Safety Town will be March 19, 20 and 21 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Avon Village School, 36600 Detroit Road, Avon.

The fee is $20 per child and is payable at registration. The fee includes a Safety Town T-shirt.

The Safety Town program will be offered two different weeks this summer at three different times, June 11 to June 15 and June 18 to June 22.

The two-hour daily session will be offered 8 to 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
