Schools lunch menu

Check out what's served for lunch in the Avon schools from Nov. 15 to 22:


-- Today: Turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, roll, cherry crisp

-- Friday: Nachos, tossed salad, diced peaches

-- Monday: Chicken patty, tator tots, diced pears

-- Tuesday: Cheese pizza, baby carrots with dip, raspberry sherbet, holiday cupcake

-- Wednesday: No school

-- Thursday: No school

High school:

-- Today: Donatos pizza, diced carrots with dill, pineapple tidbits

-- Friday: Ham and cheese bagel, baby carrots with dill, fruit cup

-- Monday: East of Chicago pizza, tator tots, fruit cocktail

-- Tuesday: Beefy ravioli, bread stick, buttered peas, diced pears, cupcake

Recycling awareness program

On Nov. 17, Avon residents and organizations are invited to ''You Can Make A Difference.'' The event, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Avon Isle Park on Detroit Road is to heighten awareness of the local recycling program.

There will be a week-long exhibit of displays, including the fire department's antique pumper and the police department's new motorcycle and Jeep patrol vehicle.

Avon organizations also will have displays. All of the proceeds from this program will go to the newly formed Senior Citizens Advisory Commission for establishing a Senior Center.

Park board to meet

The Avon Parks and Recreation Board meets tonight at 7:30 at the Avon Isle Park.

High school football banquet

The Avon High School Football Banquet will be 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Commons at the school.

School board meeting

The Avon Board of Education will meet 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in Avon Middle School.

Check out library times

The Avon Branch Library will close at 5 p.m. Nov. 21 and will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Nov. 23.

Avon coverlet available

The Avon Women's Club is offering a new, full color Avon coverlet this fall, as its on-going fund-raising project. The full-size cover features Avon landmarks and will provide a hometown memorial for families' holidays. The coverlet costs $60 and can be obtained by calling Joan at 937-5039.

Attend Christmas Boutique

Holy Trinity's 20th Annual Christmas Boutique will be Nov. 17 in the church hall and school, 2630 Nagel Road. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Joyce Drozdowski's two newest tole painted buildings of the Country Store on Stoney Ridge Road and Hickory Inn will be available. Admission is $1; children admitted free. Hot lunch will be served, and the Ladies Guild will be selling RADA knives along with their cookbooks, ''Family Favorites'' and ''More Family Favorites.''

Knights Christmas party

Knights of Columbus No. 3269, Isabella Christmas party, dinner and dance will be Dec. 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Music by John Kowalski. Cost is $15 for a single, $30 a couple. Make reservations by calling Rita at 871-5118 or Bobbie at 934-4053.

VFW turkey/ham raffle

Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 will hold a turkey and ham raffle tomorrow at the post home, 36950 Mills Road, at 8 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary inspection will be Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
