Spend `Sundae in the Park'
Sundae in the Park will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Heritage Square Park gazebo. Residents new and old are invited. Participants can pay $2 to make their own sundae and $1 for an ice cream cone. There will be music and children's entertainment. The event is sponsored by the French Creek Development Association.
Zoning board meeting
The Avon Board of Zoning and Building Appeals is meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Avon City Hall, 36080 Chester Road.
Schools are cooking again
Just look what's the cooking for students in Avon Schools for the first day of school, Aug. 23:
Avon East Elementary
-- Thursday: Hot dog on bun, seasoned oven fries, diced peaches, milk
Avon High School
-- Thursday: Footlong hot dog on bun, tator tots, diced peaches, milk
Avon Historical Society meets
The first fall meeting of the Avon Historical Society will be held on 9-11-01 at 7 pm in the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.
The program for September 11 is a presentation on "Approaches to Preserving Historic Structures in Avon." The panelists are Fred Holycross, Director of Preservation Resource Center (a program of the Cleveland Restoration Society), Jack Kilroy, Avon Councilman from the Fourth Ward, and Jim Rokakis, Cuyahoga County Treasurer. Everyone is invited.
