Tax filing tips given

Tips on how to file for the 2000 Federal tax will be presented Saturday, March 3, in the Avon Branch Library at 2 p.m. The presenter is Wendy Wills. Registration can be made by calling 934-4743.

Historical society to meet

The Avon Historical Society will meet Monday, March 5, in the Avon Town Hall for a lecture on ''Quilts and the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) Collection,'' to be presented by Mrs. Del Fischer. The session begins at 7 p.m.

Avon Village and East elementaries:

-- Today: French toast sticks, sausage patty, hash browns, orange wedges, milk

-- Friday: Very cheesy macaroni and cheese, green beans, fresh fruit, milk

-- Monday: Cheeseburger on bun, potato wedges, pineapple tidbits, milk

-- Tuesday: Meat ravioli, breadstick, tossed salad, fruit punch, date cake, milk

-- Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza, seasoned green beans, fresh fruit salad, milk

-- Thursday: Sloppy Joe on a bun, tater tots, cinnamon pears

Avon Middle School:

-- Today: French toast sticks, sausage patties, hash browns, orange wedges, milk

-- Friday: Cheese dippers with sauce or tuna submarine, criss cross fries, cinnamon pears, milk

-- Monday: Cheeseburger on bun with oven fries or chef salad with biscuit, fresh fruit salad, milk

-- Tuesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, seasoned breadstick, green beans, tropical fruit salad, milk

-- Wednesday: Chicken chow mein with fried rice or thick crusted pizza with garden salad, applesauce, milk

Avon High School:

Athletic boosters meeting

The Athletic Boosters Association will meet Tuesday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Avon High School.

The Avon Boosters Club will meet Monday, March 12, in the library in Avon High School at 7:30 p.m.

Knights sock hop

The Knights of Columbus Father Ragan Council Sock Hop is set for Saturday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon. The evening will feature Eddie and the Edsels and music of the 50's and 60's starting at 7 p.m. Cost for dinner and dancing is $18 per person or $35 per couple. Parents club garage sale

A garage sale, sponsored by the Avon Preschool Parents Club, will be Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Avon High School. There will also be a bake sale. Admission is $1. For information or questions, call Julie Berkheimer at 934-5298.

March Magic

The Avon Junior Women's Club announces preparations for its seventh annual fundraiser.

The event, March Magic, will raise funds to benefit the Avon Public Library, the Avon Community Center, Avon Safety Town, and a scholarship for one young woman in Lorain County.

This year's event will take place on March 31 at Wagner's Country Inn in Westlake. The organization is seeking financial sponsorship, patron donations, silent auction donations and advertising in the program.
