Fellowship group to meet

The Men's Fellowship Group of the Avon United Methodist Church will meet Saturday, July 28, at 7:30 a.m. in the Cracker Barrel Restaurant, I-90 and Detroit Road in Sheffield Village. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

Council work session

Avon City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 6, for a work session at 7:30 p.m. at Avon City Hall, Center and Chester roads.

Vacation Bible school

Vacation Bible School at the Avon United Methodist Church will be Sunday, Aug. 12, through Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Children, from age 3 through the fifth grade, are invited to participate. ''Camp Hope'' is this year's theme. Registration can be made by calling 934-5121.

Senior commission update

The newly formed Senior Commission will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at EHM Rehab Center, Healthwood Drive to discuss organizational plans.

Councilman Tim Knickum, who has been spearheading the effort, said there were 32 residents at the last meeting. The group is interested in becoming an official member of the Avon community and one of their goals is to obtain the Avon Isle as a senior center, he said.

Planning Commission meeting

The Avon Planning Commission will meet Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at City Council chambers.
