Entertainment books on sale

The Isabella Guild of Fr. Ragan Council No. 3269, Knights of Columbus, is now taking orders for the 2002 Entertainment Book. To order the $30 book, call Claire Bommer at 934-6167 or Eddie Guthrie at 933-3646.

Homecoming weekend

Get ready for the start of Avon's homecoming weekend with tonight's Homecoming Parade at Avon High School beginning at 7 p.m. Tomorrow, watch the Avon Eagles take on the Wellington Dukes at 7 p.m. The homecoming dance in planned for 8 p.m. Saturday.

Church's chicken dinner

Holy Trinity Church, 2610 Nagel Road, will host its annual chicken dinner and raffle, Sunday, Sept. 30, from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the door at $9 for adults and $4.50 for children under 12. Complete chicken dinner includes dessert and beverage. Everyone is welcome. For information, call Mary at 937-5269.

Disaster fund fund-raisers

St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception School held two fund-raisers for the Disaster Relief Fund, collecting $771.20. A third fund-raiser will take place before Thanksgiving.

Athletic Booster Club

The Athletic Booster Club at Avon High School will meet Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.

Rummage, bake sale

A rummage and bake sale by the Faith Lutheran Church Women will be Thursday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a large variety of household goods and clothing for sale, as well as home-baked goods. They are located at the corner of Garden and Lakeland drives. The public is welcome.

Historical society meeting

The Avon Historical Society will visit the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 5501 Lake Road, Sheffield Lake, on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.
