Candle Light Walk set

Avon's Annual Candle Light Walk is planned for Dec. 7, 8 and 9, with special activities throughout the weekend. Sponsored by the French Creek Development Association, the event is highlighted by all the luminaries placed by shop owners in the area.

Gazebo's tree lighting

The Avon Historical Society and the Avon Lions Club will have a tree lighting at the Gazebo in Heritage Square 6 p.m. Dec. 8. Santa will start the festivities, arriving in a horse-drawn sleigh. The Avon High School Choir will be singing old favorites. Lolly the Trolley will provide free rides along Detroit Road. After the tree lighting, there will be hot chocolate available at the old Town Hall.

Band's pancake breakfast

The Avon High School Band will have a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 2 in the high school commons.

Lunch menu choices

What's served for lunch in the Avon schools from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6:

Avon Elementary:

-- Today: Grilled cheese, creamy tomato soup, Fritos, pineapple tidbits

-- Friday: Chicken nuggets, potatoes, fruit cocktail

-- Monday: Soft beef taco, refried bean casserole, diced peaches

-- Tuesday: Pretzel with cheese sauce, seasoned carrots, fruit cocktail

-- Wednesday: Cheese pizza, seasoned corn, raisins

-- Thursday: Grilled cheese, creamy tomato soup with crackers, diced peaches

Avon Middle/High School:

-- Today: Pizza, baby carrots with dip, strawberry shortcake

-- Friday: Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, roll with butter, melon cup

-- Monday: Pizza, garden salad, applesauce

-- Tuesday: Pretzel with cheese sauce, seasoned carrots, fruit cocktail

-- Wednesday: Sloppy joe, tator tots, fruit crisp

-- Thursday: Grilled cheese, creamy tomato soup with crackers, diced peaches

Development association to meet

The French Creek Development Association will meet 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Lions Center on Eaton Drive.

Kiwanis Club

The Avon/Avon Lake Kiwanis Club will meet 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in The Barn, 37711 Detroit Road. Speaker Norma Higgins will talk about ''Early Days in Avon.''

Place Market Day order

Orders for Market Day are due Dec. 6. Pick up an application at Avon Village School, 36600 Detroit Road.

Knights Christmas gala

Knights of Columbus 3269 will have its Isabella Christmas Party Dinner and Dance Dec. 15 at the K of C Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Music by John Kowalski. Cost is $15 per person. To make a reservation, call Rita at (440) 871-5118 or Bobbie at (440) 934-4053.
