Baton camp scheduled

The Avon Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a baton camp from Monday, Aug. 6, to Thursday, Aug. 9, at Schwartz Road Park. Classes are 9 to 9:45 a.m. for beginners ages 4 to 6; 10 to 10:45 a.m. for beginners ages 7 to 10; and 11 to 11:45 a.m. for beginners/intermediate ages 11 to 14.

Private lessons are also available. Cost is $20 if child has her own baton and $35 if your child needs to purchase a baton. For more information, call Doreen at 937-5175.

Preschool Parents Club

The Avon Preschool Parents Club is having its annual Membership Drive from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Schwartz Road Park Pavilion. Ice cream treats, an obstacle course and fire trucks will be on hand for enjoyment.

Senior advisory group meeting

The Avon Senior Citizens Advisory Commission is asking all Avon residents 55 years and older to share ideas and concerns for the city's senior population. The group meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the EMH Health and Fitness Center, 1997 Healthway Drive.
