Avon Research Club

Avon Research Club will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the home of Dr. Delbert and Jean Fischer. The program will be a lecture by Jean Fischer on Queen Anne furniture. The nominating committee is expected to name officers for the club's 2001-02 year.

School's choir dance

The Avon High School choir dance will be Saturday, April 7, at the high school, from 5 to 11 p.m.

Library Friends welcome friends

Avon Friends of Avon Library will meet Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library at 37485 Harvest Drive. Guests are welcome.

Band's Florida plans

On Wednesday, April 11, the Avon Band Boosters Club will meet in the high school at 7 p.m.

Final plans for the Florida band trip, scheduled for April 17 to 23, will be completed.

Egg coloring, hunt set

Egg coloring for the Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 Children's Easter Egg Hunt will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 13, in the post home, 36950 Mills Road. The egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, at 1 p.m.

Co-ed softball program

Avon Recreation Department will be sponsoring an adult co-ed softball program on Sunday evenings at Schwartz Road Park. Cost is $350 per team and includes shirts for 14 players, softballs and umpire fees. Team must have a minimum of five players that live or work in Avon. For more information, call Donna at 934-5044 or 934-3059. Registration deadline is by May 13.

Schools lunch menu

Check out the lunch menu in the Avon schools from April 5 to 11. Spring break begins Thursday, April 12.

Avon East and village elementaries:

-- Today: Belgian waffle sticks with strawberry sauce, sausage patty, hash brown patty, orange juice, milk

-- Friday: Cheesy baked macaroni, green beans, biscuit with honey, fruity cocktail, milk

-- Monday: Mini corn dogs, baked beans, diced peaches, milk

-- Tuesday: Chicken nuggets, macaroni salad, steamed broccoli, cherry crisp, milk

-- Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza, seasoned corn, chilled pears, Easter cupcake, milk

Avon middle and high:

-- Today: Belgian waffle sticks with strawberry sauce, sausage patty, hash brown patty, orange juice, milk

-- Friday: Cheese baked macaroni, green beans, biscuit with honey, fruity cocktail, milk

-- Monday: Corn dogs or ranch chicken wrap, tater tots, diced peaches, milk

-- Tuesday: Chicken nuggets, macaroni salad, steamed broccoli, cherry crisp, milk

-- Wednesday: Chef's choice

ADA monthly meeting

The Lorain County Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinators Network will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at Avon City Hall, 36080 Chester Road, Avon. This meeting will be followed by a teleconference titled ''Resolutions options -- to complain or not to complain? Mediate? or File Suit? Unraveling ADA resolution options.'' All Lorain County ADA coordinators/representatives are encouraged to attend. Call Karen at 937-7822 to register for the teleconference.

Keeping fit after 50 talk

Avon Recreation Department, St. John Westshore Outreach Department and Avenbury Lakes Development are sponsoring a talk and demonstration on Tuesday, April 10, at 5 p.m. on how to keep physically fit after 50. Presented by Jodi DeHaven, the program will be held at Avenbury Lakes Lodge. There will also be free blood pressure checks from 5 to 7 p.m.

Easter egg hunt

Good Samaritan Nursing Home will be having an Easter egg hunt for children, ages 1 to 12, at the home at 32900 Detroit Road, Avon, on Saturday, April 7, at 2:30 p.m. There will be fun, prizes and refreshments. Call 937-6201 to register.
