Antique festival this weekend

The Country Living Antique Festival will be Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at craft and collectible retail stores in the city. There will be outside Americana craft demonstrations, sidewalk sales, food and entertainment. The annual event is sponsored by the French Creek Association.

Grandparents Day celebrated

Faith Lutheran Church, Garden and Lakeland drives, and the Avon United Methodist Church, 377`11 Detroit Road, are celebrating Grandparents Day Sunday, Sept. 9 during services. Gymnastics, cheerleading

The Little Flippers Gymnastics and Cheerleading classes will begin Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Avon United Methodist Church. Sponsored by the Avon Parks and Recreation Department, classes are for children 3 to 12 years of age. There will be preschool gymnastics for children 3 through 5, developmental gymnastics for ages 6 to 10. Junior high and high school cheerleading squads can arrange special class times. Preserving historic structures

The Avon Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. in The Old Town Hall at the corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads. The program will include a panel discussion on the subject of ''Approaches to Preserving Historic Structures in Avon.'' The panelists include Fred Holycross, director of Preservation Resource Center; Jack Kilroy, Avon councilman, and Jim Rokakis, Cuyahoga County treasurer. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion program.

Rebels luncheon meeting

Autumn Rebels will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at noon in the Avon United Methodist Church with a $6.25 catered luncheon. Make a reservation with Sis Wernert at 934-4445, three days before. The program will be music by Charlene Firestone. All adults, 50 years and older, are welcome.

--Tuesday: Meaty lasagna, seasoned breadstick, green beans, chilled applesauce.

--Wednesday: Cheesy pizza, tossed salad, diced pears, milk.

--Thursday: Cheesy chicken and rice, steamed broccoli, roll, pineapple tidbits, brownie, milk.

High school:

--Thursday: Meatball submarine, seasoned corn, banana pudding, milk.

--Friday: East of Chicago pizza, mini Caesar, diced pears, milk.

--Monday: Donato's pizza, fries, fruit cocktail, milk.

--Tuesday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, breadstick, applesauce, milk.

--Wednesday: Domino's pizza, mini Caesar, raspberry sherbet, milk.

--Thursday: 2-4-1 corn dogs, steamed broccoli, pineapple tidbits, brownie, milk.
