Senior commission appointments
Pat Bahas and James Schmitz were elected co-chairmen of the newly organized Senior Advisory Commission this week, a city sponsored senior program designed to help local senior residents by providing programs, information, and assistance.
Elected secretary was Helen Mutchler. The Commission's next meeting will be Wednesday, July 11, at 9:30 a.m. in the Caucus Room at Avon City Hall on Chester Road.
Former pastor retires
The Rev. Bruce R. Irwin will retire after 38 years of full-time ministry on June 30 at the First United Methodist Church in Warren. Irwin served 16 years at the Avon United Methodist Church. A reception for Irwin and his wife, Barbara, will be Sunday, June 24, in Warren, immediately following services.
Fellowship club's breakfast
The Men's Fellowship Club of the Avon United Methodist Church will meet Saturday, June 9, for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the Cracker Barrel Restaurant on Detroit Road.
Members talk investment
The Detroit Road Investment Club will meet Sunday, June 10, at 11 a.m. in the parlor of the Avon United Methodist Church. Guests are welcome.
Club's garden party
Avon Garden Club will meet at the home of Mrs. J. Kearney Tuesday, June 12, at 7 p.m., for a garden party. The ladies are requested to wear hats.
Autumn Rebels luncheon
Autumn Rebels will meet Tuesday, June 12, at noon in The Barn, 37722 Detroit Road, with a catered luncheon costing $6.25. Reservations for lunch can be made with Sis Wernert at 934-4445. All residents 50 years of age and over are invited to attend.
Get Ohio Kids Card
Ohio families with children under the age of 6 can apply for the Ohio Kids Card at the Avon Branch Library. This card can be used for discounts on products and services throughout Ohio. Businesses voluntarily participate and provide discounts to Ohio Kids Card members. For additional information, call 934-4743.
Library friends meet
The Avon Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in the Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive. Guests are welcome.
