High school orientation

Orientation for ninth grade students and all new students in grades 10 to 12 will be Aug. 22 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Avon High School.

Public hearings planned

Three public hearings will take place before the Avon Planning Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15. At 7 p.m., a hearing will take place for a special use permit for Safety Town. Following that hearing is one on a special use permit for Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The final hearing is for a special use permit for Kim's Martial Arts.

Avon Historical Society meets

The first fall meeting of the Avon Historical Society will be held on 9-11-01 at 7 pm in the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.

The program for September 11 is a presentation on "Approaches to Preserving Historic Structures in Avon." The panelists are Fred Holycross, Director of Preservation Resource Center (a program of the Cleveland Restoration Society), Jack Kilroy, Avon Councilman from the Fourth Ward, and Jim Rokakis, Cuyahoga County Treasurer. Everyone is invited.
