Planning Commission: The Avon Planning Commission will hold a work session on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Avon City Hall to examine and discuss strategies to maintain and preserve the ''sense of place'' in Avon, as well preservation of it's older and historic structures. Members and public are invited to attend.
Yard sales: There will be flea markets, yard sales and sidewalk sales throughout the city during Avon's city-wide Aunt Teak and Uncle Junque Yard Sales, Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will also be a rib and chicken barbecue at Heritage Square Town Gazebo Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm on June 22, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.

Lions to meet: The Avon Lions Club will meet at Tom's Country Place Thursday at 6 p.m. The club meets the second Thursday of every month.
Library news: It's renewal time as a Friends of the Avon Library. Cost is $3 for an individual or $5 for a family.
A special bonus for renewing or joining is the first pick of books at the preview night of the Friends of the Avon Library's book sales. Also, tomorrow at 7 p.m. the Friends will be meeting at the library, 37485 Harvest Drive, to plan their annual yard sale event.
Mark your calendars to drop off, or help during the sorting and selling, and come to buy. The date is July 13 and donations are being accepted starting July 8. Call the library at 934-4743, for more information.
Commission hearings: The Avon Planning Commission will hold public hearings regarding rezoning and a special use permit for St. Mary of the Woods senior living community. They will be held at 7 and 7:15 p.m. in City Council Chambers on Chester Road, on 6-19-02.
