PLANNING COMMISSION: The Avon Planning Commission will hold a work session at 7 pm on Wednesday, 3-13-02, in the Council Chambers at City Hall on Chester Rd. to consider a landmark ordinance for preservation.

Cards and bingo: Avon Senior Citizens, Inc. will meet Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Lions Community Center, Eaton Drive. Program for the day will include card playing and bingo. Those planning to attend are urged to bring a white elephant gift and brown bag lunch, beverages will be provided. For more information, call Ellen Young, at 937-7821.

Luncheon and program: Autumn Rebels will meet Tuesday at noon at The Barn, 37711 Detroit Road. The meeting begins with a catered $6.25 lunch. All adults over 50 years of age are welcome to attend. Reservations must be made with Sis Wernert at 934-4445. The program will be ''Pictures and a talk about Lorain Waterfront, and the new Light House,'' by Richard Novak.

Garden club meeting: The Avon Garden Club will meet Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Avon Library, 37485 Harvest Drive. Speaker for the evening will be Alan Wiloby from Y-Not Innovations LLC. His topic will be ''Yards for Birdbrains.'' Guests and visitors are welcome. Hostess for the evening will be Elsa Rolland. For information call Coletta at 937-5237.

Lenten drama: During the Lenten season, a drama will be presented by Faith Lutheran Church, in which a reporter goes back in time and interviews the innkeeper's wife at Bethlehem to verify the birth of Jesus. The drama will be presented starting next Wednesday, with services at 7:30 p.m. A soup and sandwich supper will precede the dramas. Faith Lutheran Church is located at 2265 Garden Drive.

Rummage sale: The spring rummage sale at the Avon United Methodist Church will be Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, at 9 a.m. Useable tools, toys, household items and clean clothing will be available.
