Seniors Inc.: New officers for Avon Seniors Inc. include President Jim Schmitz, Vice President Dianne Fischer, Treasurer Helen Schatschneider, Recording Secretary Susie Cory. Correspendence secretary is Iris Monda and representing membership on the board of directors will be Betty Kerg.

Michael's Craft Store: On Aug. 14, Michael's Craft Store will be giving a presentation that will interest both men and women in Avon Seniors Inc. The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Community Center, Eaton Drive.

City council: Avon City Council is on summer recess and will not meet until Monday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Planning commission: The Avon Planning Commission will meet Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. in Council Chambers. There will be a public hearing on re-zoning of property located at 37309 French Creek Road from residential to commercial.

Family outing: The Avon United Methodist Church is sponsoring a family outing at Goodtimes in Avon on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. This will be a potluck event, so those interested in attending are urged to bring beverages, table service and a favorite dish to share. Passes for Goodtimes are available, however if only attending the outing it is not necessary to have a pass. For information, call 934-5121

Oktoberfest: St. Mary Church, 2540 Stoney Ridge Road, will be having its 27th Annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, July 28, begining at 3 p.m. at the church. The event will include music, games for children and adults and ethnic food. Admission is free.
