PLANNING COMMISSION: The Avon Planning Commission will meet at 7 pm on Thursday, 3-21-02, in the Council Chambers at City Hall on Chester Rd. to continue considering a landmark ordinance for preservation.
Safety Town sign up: Avon Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring Safety Town for children entering kindergarten in the fall. You must either live in Avon or plan to attend an Avon school to be eligible for the program.
The first session will be June 10 to June 14 and a second session will follow June 17 to June 21. Session times are 8 to 10 a.m.; 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and 1 to 3 p.m.
Registration for children attending Avon Village school will be March 25, 26 and 27 at kindergarten screening. For children attending either Holy Trinity or St. Mary, registration forms are available at the school's office and can be mailed to Avon City Hall, 36080 Chester Road, Avon 44001, Attention: Safety Town.
A fee of $20 is due at registration and checks should be payable to the City of Avon/Safety Town. For information, call Donna Russian, 937-4248 or Sherry St. John, 937-9552.
Alzheimer's fund-raiser: Alzheimer's Association will present ''If You Build It, They Will Come,'' a fund-raising event scheduled for Friday, April 12, at 6 p.m. at Red Tail Golf Club, 4400 Lear Nagel Road.
The evening of entertainment will include dinner and a silent auction. Money raised will be used to open an Alzheimer's Association west side satellite office in Spring 2003. For information or to make a reservation, call Mary Lambert, (800) 441-3322.
PTA meeting: The next Avon Village PTA meeting will be Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in the Avon Village School media room, 36600 Detroit Road. For information, call Lynn Brenner, 937-5008. Also, the Avon Board of Education will meet tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the Avon Middle School library, 3075 Stoney Ridge Road.
