Historical society meeting: The Avon Historical Society will meet today at 7 p.m. in the Old Town Hall of 1871 at the corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads. Leah Trainer, past state president of Questers and chair of the International Convention of Questers, will present a program on ''The Vanishing American Barn.'' The public is invited.

Luau: A luau to support the Avon High School football team will be Friday, July 19, at Tom's Country Place, 3442 Stoney Ridge Road, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per ticket, $140 per table and includes beer, wine and wash, pig roast, chicken, potatoes, vegetable, salad and dessert. Check should be made payable to the Avon Athletic Boosters; reservations are due Friday. Call 327-3338, for more information.

Senior citizens: Avon Senior Citizens will have a picnic July 10 at the Community Center with a catered lunch of chicken and steak. Guest speaker Mike Wolf, of the Avon Historical Society, will talk about Avon and its history. The cost is $6.50 per person. Call 937-5881, for information or tickets. The meeting begins at 9:30 with the luncheon set for 11:30 a.m.
