Roast beef dinner: Avon Seniors Inc. will host a roast beef dinner 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the new Heritage School on Detroit Road The meal will be catered by Tom's Country Place. The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeout dinners will be available. Live music will be provided by John Kowalski. Reservations should be made by Aug. 8. Check is to be made out to Avon Seniors Inc. and mailed to Avon Seniors Inc., 3072 Jaycox Road, Avon, OH 44011. Tickets may be picked up at the senior Welcome table before dinner. Oktoberfest: St. Mary Church, 2650 Stoney Ridge Road, will host its 27th Annual Oktoberfest 3 p.m. Sunday on the church grounds. There will be two groups furnishing music for the festivities, including the Wayne & Ed Band and Al Battistelli Orchestra. There will be games for adults and children and a sampling of ethnic foods, including kielbasa and sauerkraut, cabbage and noodles, roast beef and fish sandwiches, homemade desserts, ice cream and more. Everyone is welcome.

‘Bring on the Clowns': Preschoolers through fifth-graders can sign up to attend the free program, ''Bring On The Clowns,'' at the Avon Branch Library. The program will be held on 7 p.m. July 29 and 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. July 30. Come and enjoy a clown story, activity and craft. To sign up, call the library at 934-4743.

Scrapbooking: A scrapbooking craft program will be offered for sixth through 12th-graders 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Avon Branch Library. Bring your favorite pictures. The pages, sticks and stencils will be provided.
