The Avon Historical Society: will meet on Monday, 10-7-02, at 7 pm, in the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.

Rummage sale: The Ladies Guild of Faith Lutheran Church, 2265 Garden Drive, Avon, is having its fall rummage and bake sale on 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the church.
Clambake and steak: A clambake and steak roast will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Moore Road 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6. Cost is $18 per person and carryout orders will be available.
Screenings: The Avon Recreation Department, in conjunction with St. John Westshore Outreach Department and the Avenbury Lakes Development Co., will offer free glucose and blood pressure screenings on 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 8. The screenings will be at the Avenbury Lakes Lodge, 35400 Middleton Ave., Avon. No fasting is required for these tests. For information, call Donna Russian at 934-3059.
Women's club: The next meeting of the Avon Junior Womens Club will be 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Avon Lions Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive. The group meets the third Monday of each month. The meetings are open to all Avon women, and new members are always welcome. For information, call Sheila Wilson at 934-5412.
Entertainment books: The Isabella Guild of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Ragan Council 3269 has Entertainment Books available. If purchased by Dec. 1, cost is $25; after that date, $30. For information, call Margaret DiLuciano at 934-5766 or Beth Shindler at 930-2540.
Library hours: The Avon Branch Library is now open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m Sundays. Sunday hours will remain through May.
