The Avon Historical Society: will meet on Monday, 10-7-02, at 7 pm, in the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.

Rummage sale: The Ladies Guild of Faith Lutheran Church, 2265 Garden Drive, Avon, is having its fall rummage and bake sale on 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the church.
Clambake and steak: A clambake and steak roast will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Moore Road 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6. Cost is $18 per person and carryout orders will be available.
Screenings: The Avon Recreation Department, in conjunction with St. John Westshore Outreach Department and the Avenbury Lakes Development Co., will offer free glucose and blood pressure screenings on 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 8. The screenings will be at the Avenbury Lakes Lodge, 35400 Middleton Ave., Avon. No fasting is required for these tests. For information, call Donna Russian at 934-3059.
Women's club: The next meeting of the Avon Junior Womens Club will be 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Avon Lions Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive. The group meets the third Monday of each month. Entertainment books: The Isabella Guild of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Ragan Council 3269 has Entertainment Books available. If purchased by Dec. 1, cost is $25; after that date, $30. For information, call Margaret DiLuciano at 934-5766 or Beth Shindler at 930-2540.
Library hours: The Avon Branch Library is now open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m Sundays. Sunday hours will remain through May.
