Membership drive: The Avon Preschool Parents Club will host its annual Membership Drive 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Schwartz Road Park Pavilion. The event will feature fun activities for the family, including a visit by one of Avon's finest fire trucks, an obstacle course, ice cream treats and more. Meet new friends and learn about the APPC, a family organization providing educational and social services for parents and children ages birth through kindergarten.

Golf scramble: The annual Avon Athletic Boosters Four-Person Fun Scramble will be Saturday at Bob-O-Link Golf Course in Avon. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. The cost is $40 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, beverages, food and door prizes. For sign-up or more information, call Bill or Donna Fitch at Bob-O-Link, 934-6217.

Book discussion: The evening adult book discussion group at the Avon Branch Library meets 7 p.m. Aug. 7. The group will discuss ''The Good Earth,'' by Pearl Buck. Copies of the book are available at the library. New members are welcome.
