The Avon Historical Society: will meet on Monday, 9-9-02, at 7 pm, in the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge.
The speakers will be Bill Bird from the Lorain County Historical Society and Matt Kocsis from the Lorain County Metroparks. They will discuss the Ohio Biicentenial Program at the French Creek Nature Center to be held in 2003. Avon will be displaying a 10-foot diameter working overshot water wheel, a model farm, and an exhibit commemorating the Avon Isle.
Women's club to meet: The Avon Women's Club is having its first meeting of the club year 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Lion's Community Center on Eaton Drive. Pizza and salad will be served. For information, call Marge at 937-6616.
Entertainment books: 2003 Entertainment books are being sold by the Isabella Guild of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Ragan Council No. 3269. Books are $25 if purchased by Dec. 1 and $30 after that date. Call Margaret DeLucia at 934-5766 or Beth Shindler at 930-2540.
Research club meeting: The Avon Research Club will meet 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at Sandy Ridge Metro Park, 6190 Otter Road, North Ridgeville.
Clambake: The Avon Lions annual clambake will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Tom's Country Place. Tickets are $20 and can be obtained by calling Bill at 934-6176.
Seniors meet: The Avon Seniors Inc. will meet 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at EMH Health Center, Healthway Boulevard, Avon.
Rebels luncheon meeting: The Autumn Rebels will meet noon Sept. 10 in The Barn, 37711 Detroit Road, Avon. The meeting will begin with a catered lunch for $6.25. Reservations can be made with Sis Wernert at 934-4445.
