Avon Historical Society: will meet at 7 pm on Monday, 1-6-03, at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge. New video versions of the Talking Quilt and other slide presentations will be shown.

Avon Planning Commission: will discuss the proposed I-90 interchange to be located east of Nagel Rd. (and five lanes of pavement on Detroit Rd.) at 7 pm on Wednesday, 1-8-03, in the Caucus Room, City Hall, at Chester and SR-83. Members of Council and the public are urged to attend.

St. Mary's fund-raiser: St. Mary's Church is sponsoring an Evening at the Races Feb. 1 at Tom's Country Place, 3540 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner is at 6:30 p.m., and post time is at 8 p.m. Tickets can be secured with a $20 donation, which includes races, set-ups, buffet dinner, door prizes and dancing. Bloodmobile visit: The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be at Avon Commons, 35974 Detroit Road, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. For more information, call (800) 448-3543.

Discuss a book: The Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Avon Branch Library. The book to be discussed will be, ''Anil's Ghost.'' Copies are available at the library.

Council meets: Avon City Council meets 7:30 tonight [12-30-02] for its regularly scheduled meeting.
