Welcome Kathleen Crowther: The Avon Historical Society will welcome Kathleen H. Crowther, the executive director for the Cleveland Restoration Society, to its meeting Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. Crowther will give a presentation on ''Approaches to Preserving Historical Structures in Avon.'' The meeting will be held in the Old Town Hall on Detroit Road and SR 611. It is free and open to the public.

Preschool information: The Avon Preschool Parents Club (APPC) will have Preschool Information Day, Saturday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. This event offers an opportunity for parents to gather information and discuss questions with area preschool representatives and teachers. There is no admission and it's open to the public. Racing fund-raiser: St. Mary Church is sponsoring an Evening at the Races Saturday, Feb. 2, at Tom's Country Place, 3540 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and post time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Reservations are mandatory. PTA meeting: Get involved in your child's education by joining the next Avon Village PTA meeting, Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Avon Village School media room. Avon Village is located at 36600 Detroit Road.

Council meeting: Avon City Council work session and regular meeting will be held tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. in Avon City Hall, at Chester and Center roads. The Avon Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Avon City Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Little Flippers: The Little Flippers Gymnastics and Cheerleading classes sponsored by the Avon Recreation Department offers fun and fitness for children. Session 3 starts the first week of February. Preschool gymnastics classes are held on Thursday for ages 1 to 5.

Cheerleading class: Cheerleading classes for grades two through six are on Saturday mornings. The eight-week session costs $45 with an additional $5 charge for non Avon residents. If interested, please call instructor Kris Sharer at 937-6945 to register or for any additional information.

Commission meeting: The next meeting of the Avon Senior Citizens Advisory Commission will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 9:30 a.m. at the EMH Health Center, Healthway Boulevard. They will begin forming committees. Guests are invited to attend and bring ideas to the meeting.

Boosters meeting: The Avon Athletic Boosters Club will meet on tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Avon Middle School. On Tuesday, Jan. 15, The Choir Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. in Avon Middle School. The band's candy drive begins Jan. 15.

Investment Club: The Avon Investment Club will meet on Monday, Jan. 21, at the Avon Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. Guests are welcome
