Friends meeting: The Friends of the Avon Library will meet tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the library, 37485 Harvest Drive. If you would like to join the Friends or have any questions, call 934-4743.

Meeting change: The Avon Women's Club will not be meeting today. Instead, they will join the Avon Lions Club on Thursday at Tom's Country Place for dinner. Amy Smalling, of the Ohio Attorney General's Office, will present a program on consumer fraud. The meeting is open to all Avon residents, but reservations are necessary. Call Sharon at 937-5637 or Marge at 937-6616, if you would like to attend.

Avon Heritage coverlets: Multi-colored coverlets depicting many of the old houses and buildings of Avon are available for $50. To purchase a coverlet, call Joan at 937-5039.

Home Mom Fest: The Work at Home Mom Fest, a celebration of work at home moms making a difference, will be Saturday, April 27, at Avon High School from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to participate in the WAHMfest by signing up as a vendor for your work at home business, call Stephanie Ringwalt, 937-9171. Tables are $30 and going fast. Only one representative from any company can present their product.

Catholic information night: Holy Trinity PTU is sponsoring a Catholic High School information night Tuesday, April 23. The participating schools include Lorain Catholic, Elyria Catholic, Magnificat, St. Joseph Academy, St. Augustine's, St. Ed's and St. Ignatius. This event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity School, 2610 Nagel Road, Avon.

Rummage sale: The annual St. Mary spring rummage sale will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. If you would like to donate any items, the drop-off is Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the school hall.

Children's storyteller: Heralded as the best children's storyteller in Cleveland, Mr. Hatbox will be at the Avon Branch Library on Monday, April 15 at 7 p.m. He will bring original stories, songs and extravagant headgear to the library for this free program. This special program is in celebration of National Library Week. Pre-register by calling the library at 934-4743.

Baton twirling session: A seven-week baton twirling session will be offered on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings at Avon Village School. Students ages 4 to 14 are welcome. The cost is $40, if the student has a baton, or $55 if one is needed. Classes are sponsored by the Avon Parks & Recreation Dept. through Monday, April 22. Rummage sale: The Avon Methodist Church Spring Rummage Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. Useable tools, toys, household items and clean clothing will be available. Refreshments are also available.

VFW election: The Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 will hold election of post officers Thursday at 8 p.m.

Seniors luncheon program: Autumn Rebels, for all adults over 50, will meet tomorrow at noon in The Barn, at the Avon United Methodist Church. At catered $6.25 luncheon will be served. Program will be Kitchen Kuties directed by Clyde Matthews. Call Sis Wernert for reservations at 934-4445.

Planning work session: The Avon Planning Commission will hold a work session this Wednesday and their regular session on Wednesday, April 17, both at 7 p.m. A lengthy agenda is planned.

Golf league openings: The Avon Ladies Golf League has openings for new members. The league plays on Wednesday mornings at Sweetbriar Gold Course in Avon Lake. During May, tee-off is at 9 a.m., in June, July, and August the start is 8 a.m. For information, call Norma at 937-5822.
