The Avon Historical Society: will meet at 7 pm on Monday, 11-3-03, at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge. Millie Arthrell will present "LUCY STONE," an early feminist working for the abolition of slavery. Remember to vote on Tuesday, 11-4-03.

Choir practice: Faith Lutheran Church will hold a choir practice on Wednesdays, Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. at 2265 Garden Drive.

Put on your dancing shoes: Line dancing classes are held every Thursday at the Avon Community Center at 11 a.m., sponsored by Avon Seniors, Inc.

Holiday plans: Plans are already underway for the Avon United Methodist Church ''Christmas In The Barn'' event planned for Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in conjunction with Avon's Candlelight Walk, planned for Dec. 5 to 7. Chairman Judy Bucher is in charge of vendor arrangements and kitchen help. To participate, call Judy at 934-2403.

First ladies gowns: Avon Research Club will gather Oct. 15, behind the Avon Police Station at 9:15 a.m. for a trip to Kent to view presidential First Ladies' gowns.

Foot screening: A free foot screening will be Oct. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Avon Oaks Caring Community, 37800 French Creek Road. The screening, which offers a consultation with Dr. Frank Washburn, D.P.M. is intended for those seeking a solution for ankle pain or aching feet. Reservations can be made by calling Avon Oaks Caring Community, The Gardens of French Creek at (440) 934-5204.

Bunco: The next meeting of the Avon Women's Club will be Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive, Avon. The club will learn how to play bunco. Call Marge at 937-6616, for more information.

Entertainment books: The Isabella Guild and the Avon Women's Club have 2004 Entertainment Books available. If purchased by Dec. 8, cost is $25. For Avon Women's Club, call Dorrie at 934-5132 or Janet at 934-5670; for the Isabella Guild, call Margaret at 934-5766 or Betty at 933-6942.

Book talk: Join the Afternoon Book Discussion Group for adults Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. The group will discuss ''Enemy Women.'' Copies of the book are available at the library. New members are welcome. For more information, call 934-4743.

Seniors' events: The Avon Seniors Inc. meet biweekly at the Community Center at Northgate for craft sessions at 1 p.m. Donation is $2, plus costs for materials. For more information on the sessions, call Pat Kolecki at 937-6922. The group is also seeking corporate sponsors for 2003 and 2004.
