Santa: There will be Christmas tree lighting at 6 pm on Saturday, 12-6-03, followed by Santa at the Gazebo, corner of Stoney Ridge and Detroit at 6:30 pm -- then across the street for Santa at the Old Town Hall at 7 pm.
If you want to help, the Old Town Hall is being decorated at 7 pm on Tuesday, 12-2-03.
Pancake breakfast: The Avon Band Boosters is holding its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the high school Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 per person and includes pancakes, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, fruit, pastry and beverages. Children under 5 are free. Tickets will be available at the door or can be pre-ordered by sending your name, address and $5 per person to Avon Band Boosters, P.O. Box 169, Avon, OH 44011. Make checks payable to: Avon Band Boosters.
Book talk: Join the Afternoon Adult Book Discussion Group 2:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Avon Branch Library as they discuss ''Present Value.'' Copies are available at the library. New members are welcome.
Breakfast with Santa: The Avon Preschool Parents Club will have its annual pancake breakfast with Santa at Avon High School, 37545 Detroit Road Dec. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This family event features a pancake and sausage breakfast and an opportunity for children to have their pictures taken with Santa. Presale tickets are $4 for adults and $1.50 for children. Tickets at the door are $4.50 for adults and $2 for children ages 3 to 8. Children 2 and under are free. Food drive: The Avon High School Student Council is sponsoring a food drive through Thursday. The Avon community is encouraged to donate non-perishable food. Student council members will be collecting donations around the community. If you would like to donate, place the food in a brown or plastic bag on your front steps. Any donations will be appreciated. You will also be able to bring food directly to the high school through Friday. For more information, call 934-6108.
Defibrillator: Christian Heritage Assembly of God in Avon donated an automatic external defibrillator to the Avon Police Department recently, the first of its kind in the department. Proceeds from the ''First Annual CHAG Challenge,'' a 5K race/walk for the Avon community, were used to purchase the Medtronic Lifepak 500 Defibrillator.
