Avon Historical Society: The Avon Historical Society will meet at 7 pm on Monday, 9-8-03, at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit Rd. and Stoney Ridge Road.

A new year: The Avon Women's Club will have its kick-off Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive, Avon. There will be a pizza and salad supper for $3 each. Kyle Vasiloff, who was sponsored in the Hugh O'Brien Youth Program, will give a presentation. New members are welcome to join. The club is also selling 2004 Entertainment Books, and one can be purchased for $25 from a club member or by calling Dorrie at 934-5132 or Janet at 934-5670.
Fall festival: The Country Living and Antique Fall Festival will be Saturday [9-6-03] from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the French Creek District Shops. Follow the scarecrows and cornstalks to the antique and craft marts. There will be demonstrations of spinning, weaving and wreath making, entertainment, food and more. It's a party: Avon Seniors, Inc. had planned a Theatre Party at the Carousel Dinner Theatre on Sept. 20. Area senior citizens are invited to attend the matinee performance of ''Carousel.'' Cost is $56.70, which includes transportation, lunch and the musical. Call the Loths at 937-6723 for reservations and details.
College costs: Get tips on how to prepare for your children's college costs during a free program Sept. 9 at 1 or 7 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. Terry Hunday, from First Federal Savings and Loan, will lead the program. Call 934-4743 for more information.
