The Avon Historical Society: will meet at 7 pm on Monday, 11-3-03, at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge. Millie Arthrell will present "LUCY STONE," an early feminist working for the abolition of slavery. Remember to vote on Tuesday, 11-4-03.

Holiday cooking: The Avon Women's Club will meet Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive. Join them for a holiday cooking demonstration, meet new friends and get in the holiday spirit. Call Marge at 937-6616, for more information.

Seniors meeting: The Avon Seniors Inc. will hold its monthly meeting Nov. 12 at Tom's Country Place in Avon at 10 a.m. After the general meeting, attorney Ronald G. Gogul will give a presentation on various issues of interest and relevance to seniors: state planning, wills, trusts, guardianship, medicare and long-term health care, plus other issues.

At the meeting, attendees may sign up for the annual Christmas Party, which will be Dec. 10 at the Avon Oaks Country Club, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $16 per person. Members as well as non- members may sign up either at this meeting, or call for tickets, Jane Richard at 934-6944.

The Korean War rages: Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals, or MASH units, cared for U.S. soldiers injured in the conflict. War is a serious business. But when two irreverent surgeons, Hawkeye Pierce and his friend Duke Forrest, arrive at the 4077th MASH, zaniness ensues! Avon High School's Drama Club will present ''M*A*S*H,'' a comic look at the ways we cope with war. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee Sunday at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $3 for students and senior citizens and $5 for adults. Tickets at the door are $5 and $7.
