Strike up the band: Pizzazz Baton and PomPom, sponsored by the Avon Recreation Department, is now taking registration for the upcoming fall session. Baton, pompom, or combination classes are available for students ages 4 to 15. For more information about class times and cost, call Doreen Fischer, instructor, at 937-1848.

Celebrate Ohio': Patty Patriotic will entertain with her ''Celebrate Ohio'' theme involving magic, reading and audience participation. The free program will be Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. Admission is by ticket only. Children who have read or been read to for at least eight hours during the Summer Reading Program will receive a free ticket. If you qualify, pick up your ticket at the library.

Give blood: Faith Lutheran Church will host a blood drive Sunday. The bloodmobile will be in the church parking lot, 2265 Garden Drive, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
