Avon Historical Society: May 5, 6 and 7, 2003 are the Avon days at the French Creek Nature Center Bicentennial exhibition in Sheffield (4530 Colorado)
Monday, May 5th at 7 pm is the regular monthly meeting of the Avon Historical Society, which as always is open to the public. The program is a tour of the exhibition.
The public and Avon city officials are invited to a reception hosted by the Avon Historical Society, at the French Creek Nature Center Bicentennial exhibition in Sheffield on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 pm at the French Creek Nature Center. The French Creek Association will be giving demonstrations that evening. Also, the French Creek Development Association will hold its monthly meeting at the Nature Center followed by a tour of the exhibition.
The public is invited by the Avon Historical Society to a lecture on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 pm at the French Creek Nature Center Bicentennial exhibition in Sheffield. Bill Balunek will speak on the history of aviation in Lorain County and Ohio.
Seniors get-together: Avon Seniors will meet May 14 at 10 a.m. at Tom's Country Place for its general meeting and election of officers. South Shore Four Barbershop Quartet will provide entertainment.
The group will also have ''PASS IT ON'' vans outside of Tom's for pickup of slightly used clothes and furniture for needy persons in the area. The Seniors are invited to attend the Bicentennial exhibition at the French Creek Nature Center on Wednesday, 5-7-03, at 10 am.
Open house: The Community Health Partners Physicians Inc. is having an open house of its new Avon office at Countryside Plaza, 37460 Harvest Drive, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Primary Care Physician Dr. William Damm will be introduced. Refreshments and free health screenings to include blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, bone density and body fat analysis will be available. For more information, call 933-5237.
Finance talk: Mike Abfall, Avon's Edward Jones investment representative, will host ''Smart Couples Finish Rich,'' a free seminar held in partnership with Van Kampen Investments Inc. The seminar will be tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Tom's Country Place, 3442 Stoney Ridge Road. Reservations can be made by calling Mike at 934-5735.
Sunday hours: The Avon Branch Library will be closed Sundays beginning May 25. Sunday hours will resume Sunday, Sept. 7.
