Avon Historical Society: The Avon Historical Society will meet at 7 pm on Monday, 9-8-03, at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit Rd. and Stoney Ridge Road.

Photo IDs: Heinen's Fine Foods and the Avon Edward Jones office will host a KidCare Photo ID event Sept. 27 as part of a national effort to provide parents with personal safety IDs of their children in the event that their child is ever missing. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heinen's in Avon Commons. Parents can obtain free, standardized, high-quality photos of their children in a KidCare booklet in which they can also record information on each child. For more information, call 286-5484.

It's story time: Sign up for the fall session of Preschool Story Time offered by the Avon Branch Library. The free program is for 3- to 5-year-olds who are not in kindergarten and features a variety of stories, activities and a craft. Story Time will be offered Mondays, Sept. 22 through Dec. 8, at 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, Sept. 23 through Dec. 9, at 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.; and Thursdays, Sept. 25 through Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. Registration is required by stopping in the library or calling 934-4743.

Christmas party planning: Avon Seniors Inc. will host a special Christmas Party during its December monthly meeting at the Avon Oaks Country Club. Cost will be $16 per person. People can sign up during the Seniors Inc. October meeting. Any questions or comments will be welcomed Wednesday at the meeting at Tom's Country Place at 10 a.m. Entertainment will be provided by the singing group Raising Kane from Parma. Nonperishable food items for the needy are also starting to be collected, which will be distributed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
