Women's monthly meeting: All interested women are invited to attend the next Avon Junior Women's Club monthly meeting Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the newly renovated Avon Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive, Avon. This month's featured program will be dream analysis, lead by social worker Cathy Lynch. AJWC general membership meetings are the third Monday of each month, September through May, at the Avon Community Center at 2155 Eaton Drive. Anyone interested in membership information should call Kate Fairchild at 937-9993.

Scrapbooking class: Teens and up may attend a free scrapbooking class Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. The class will be led by Rebecca Clark. Attendees should bring eight pictures of one topic. The class is limited to 10 people. Preregistration is required by calling the library at 934-4743.

Seniors to meet: The Avon Seniors Inc. will hold its monthly meeting at Tom's Country Place in Avon at 10 a.m. Wednesday. After the general meeting there will be a presentation on the topic of Great Shipwrecks on Lake Erie. Speaker will be Christopher Gillcrist, executive director of the Great Lakes Historical Society of Vermilion. All are welcome.

'Celebrations of the Heart': Community Resource Services is hosting its 15th annual Charity Ball, ''Celebrations of the Heart,'' Feb. 7 at Avon Oaks Country Club. The evening will feature a silent auction with items including dinner with Cavs announcer Joe Tait, four water passes to Great Bear Lodge, Ohio State University football tickets, an autographed Joe Namath football, gift certificates to local businesses, various pieces of art by local artists and more. CRS is a non-profit organization committed to addressing social service needs on a local basis. A significant portion of CRS' funding for programs comes from this charity ball. Cost is $195 per couple and includes cocktails, dinner, dancing, a silent auction and reverse raffle. For tickets or more information, call 933-5639.

A night at the races: St. Mary's Church in Avon is sponsoring its annual Evening at the Races at Tom's Country Place at 8 p.m. Feb. 14. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and post time is 8 p.m. Tickets can be secured with a $20 donation, which includes races, set-ups, light buffet, door prizes and dancing. Reservations now being accepted. For tickets, call John at 934-4154, Ken at 934-4896, Avon Carpets Direct at 934-1871, or Don at 934-1358. Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Church and school.
