Church benefit: Faith Lutheran Church will host a pork and chicken dinner on June 27. There are 5 and 6 p.m. seatings at the church. All proceeds will benefit the Angie Berghaus Medical Fund. Angie is a recent transplant recipient. The cost for the dinner is $11, and includes meat, potato, salad, roll, dessert and beverage.

Kids can have hot dogs, chips, dessert and beverage for $2.50. The church is located at Garden and Lakeland drives in Avon. Three theme baskets will also be raffled off with $1 tickets. Treasure hunt: Young adults entering the sixth through 12th grades this fall may participate in a treasure hunt survival game at the Avon Branch Library Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Use the library catalog and craft materials to survive on a deserted island and find the hidden treasures. Refreshments and prizes will be provided. Pre-registration is required by calling the library at 934-4743. The library is located at 37485 Harvest Drive.

It's a girl thing: Mothers and their daughters in the fourth through eighth grades are invited to join the Mother/Daughter Book Discussion Group. The Group will meet June 22 at 5 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive, Avon. The book to be discussed will be ''Because of Winn-Dixie.'' Copies of the book are available at the library. For more information, call the library at 934-4743.

Tours: Avon Seniors Inc. and the City of Avon Lake are sponsoring day tours for all interested. On Wednesday a Lake Metroparks Birds In Bloom tour will emphasize various wildlife habitats. Lunch is included at Lake Farm Park in this deluxe Motor Coach Tour. The cost is $44. The departure time is 8:30 a.m. Pick up and return will be made at the Avon Community Center located off SR 611 and the blinking light at Eaton Drive. Make checks payable to: The City of Avon Lake.
