Gymnastics and cheerleading sign-ups: Registration for the Little Flippers fall session will be held Aug. 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.; Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Aug. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. All registration is at the pole barn located at 36145 Detroit Road next to the fire station. For more information on the Avon Recreation Department program, contact instructor Kris Sharer at 937-6945.

Seniors annual picnic: On Aug. 11 the Avon Seniors will hold their annual pot luck picnic at the Schwartz Road Park in Avon at 10 a.m. There will be a short meeting. Seniors are asked to bring a favorite recipe and to come and enjoy good food and fellowship. Beverages will be provided along with all paper goods and plastic wear. Golf outing: St. Leonard Youth Retreat Center, a Catholic Lorain County youth community, is sponsoring a golf outing, July 30, at Bob-O-Link in Avon. An $80 a person entrance fee includes 18 holes and cart, lunch, steak dinner, beverages, contests and prizes. Tee times start at 11 a.m. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Call the Rev. Leo DeChant at 934-6735 or 934-6270 to register by July 26.

Baton, pompom registration: Sign-ups for the Pizzazz baton and pompom fall session is now taking place. Girls ages 4 to 14 may register for baton, pompom or a combination of both classes. Sessions will start the week of Sept. 13. To register, call instructor Doreen Fischer at 937-1848.

Fun and games: Young adults entering the sixth through 12th grades this fall are invited to participate in personality games and enjoy pizza at the Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive, Friday at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling the library at 934-4743.
