Landmarks Preservation Commission: There will be an Informational meeting on Avon's landmarks register, 7:30 pm, Wednesday, 10-27-04, at City Hall on Chester Road

Historical society: The Avon Historical Society will meet Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Old Town Hall of 1871, Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads. Millie Arthrell will present a program about Civil War General McPherson.

Meeting: The French Creek Development Association will meet Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall of 1871, Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads. Meetings are open to the public; new members are welcome.

Book talk: Adults may join the Evening Book Discussion Group when it meets Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. The book to be discussed will be ''The Da Vinci Code.'' Copies of the book are available at the library. New members are welcome. Call the library at 934-4743 for more information.

Book sale: Get great bargains at the book sale Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. The sale is sponsored by The Friends of the Avon Library.
