Garfield House presentation: There will be a meeting of the Avon Historical Society May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Old Town Hall of 1871, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads. Guest speaker Ed Herdendorf, former OSU Professor, will present the history of the Garfield House in Sheffield Village.

Card party: Avon St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society will sponsor a spring luncheon card party Wednesday at noon at Tom's Country Place, 3442 Stoney Ridge Road. The menu will be country chicken, potatoes, salad, bread, pineapple nut cake and beverage. Cost is $8. There will be raffles of door prizes and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit the purchase of church supplies. Reservations can be made by calling 934-5518, 934-5722, 934-5933, 934-4078, or 934-6639.

Avon Public Library events:

Adults, age 18 and up, are invited to donate blood during the American Red Cross Blood Drive Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.

Learn the ancient Chinese art of placement in your environment. The free program, ''Introduction To Feng Shui -- The Art Of Placement'' will be May 19 at 7 p.m. Anne Stevens from Graced Space will give feng shui instruction to offer simple, practical guidance for personally arranging an internal and external environment for harmony and balance to promote an overall sense of emotional and physical well-being. Preregistration is required by calling the library at 934-4743. The library is located at 37485 Harvest Drive, Avon.

Golf outing: St. Mary School is having its annual 4-person scramble golf outing May 8 at Avondale Golf Club. Cost is $60 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, beverages, steak dinner and prizes. Tee off is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The steak fry will be at 5 p.m. and those not participating in the golf outing are welcome for $14.50 per person, which includes beer and wine. Singles and doubles are still needed to fill foursomes. Prizes and cash donations are welcome; all donations will be listed in the program. Meeting: The French Creek Development Association will meet May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Avon Lions Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive, Avon. Some items on the agenda include updates on the Landmarks Preservation Commission, involvement in the upcoming Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival and the Aunt Teak and Uncle Junque Festival, landscaping the Little League Skate Park and production of Cat's Meow collectibles of famous Avon buildings.
