Women's club open house: Avon Junior Women's Club annual open house is Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Community Center, 2155 Eaton Drive. The speaker will be Diane Wykle from Thin & Healthy and her topic will be health and wellness. Gifts for guests will be featured.

News at the Avon Branch Library:

Come celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Avon Branch Library building Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Entertainment will include a magician, balloon sculpting, an appearance by the library mascot, Browser, and face painting. Refreshments will be provided by The Friends of the Avon Library. The library is located at 37485 Harvest Drive.

Sign Up For Step-Up Club: Kindergartners through second-graders can sign-up for Step-Up Club. The program will be held Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. Come explore scientific concepts with stories, discussion, crafts and experiments. Registration is required by calling the library at 934-4743.

Sunday hours: The Avon Branch Library will be open on Sundays, beginning Sept. 12. Sunday hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m.

Fall festival: The French Creek Association sponsors its 26th Annual Country Living and Antique Fall Festival on Saturday and Sunday in the French Creek District in Avon. The hours Saturday are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday [9-12-04] from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Antiques, scarecrows, original art, country crafts, flea market items, flowers, gifts and plants will be for sale. Craft demonstrations, entertainment and refreshments will also be available at participating shops. Free parking is behind the Avon Fire and Police departments.
