Summer reading programs

Sign-ups are underway for the summer reading programs for children and adults at Avon Branch Library. Special events are planned. Stop in for a schedule of activities.

Walking group formed

An all-age walking group has been organized for Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9:15 a.m. Meeting place is Avon Methodist Church. If you're interested, join in.

Anniversary celebration

The Friends of the Avon Branch Library are planning a fifth-year celebration of the libraries new facility Monday, 7 to 8 p.m. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. The public is invited.

Investors Club meeting

Avon Detroit Road Investors Club will meet at 11 a.m. in the parlor of the Avon United Methodist Church, 37711 Detroit Road. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

Volunteer to cheer up veterans

The Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 will travel to Brecksville Veterans Administration Hospital to cheer up the patients tomorrow. Departure is from the post at 36950 Mills Road at 6 p.m. Supper will be served and games provided at the hospital. Volunteers welcome.

Safety Town vacancies

Avon Safety Town has vacancies in the child safety program during the 8 to 10 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. session on June 21 to 25. The program will be held at Avon Village School. For additional information, call Lori Carter at 934-4101, or Lisa Mentler at 934-5971.
