Heritage Square dedication

The dedication of Heritage Square at French Creek, corner of Detroit and Stoney Ridge roads, will be this Saturday at 6 p.m. The Avon High School choir will also perform during the Christmas tree lighting. Santa Claus will make an appearance at the Old Town Hall. The French Creek Development Association and the Avon Parks and Recreation Commission are hosting the holiday event.

Here's what's served for lunch in the Avon schools from Dec. 2 to 9:

AVON EAST, VILLAGE, MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Today: Spaghetti with meat sauce, bread stick, tossed salad, Jell-O with fruit

Friday: Nachos, buttered corn, fruit cup

Monday: Ravioli, garlic bread, tossed salad, baked apples

Tuesday: Submarine sandwich, pasta salad, cherry crisp

Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza, buttered corn, fruit

Thursday: Meatball hoagie, tator tots, sherbet, cookie

AVON HIGH SCHOOL

Today: Spaghetti with meat sauce, bread stick, tossed salad, Jell-O with fruit

Friday: Nachos, buttered corn, fruit cup

Monday: Beef fajita, tortilla chips with salsa, corn, fruit juicy

Tuesday: Submarine sandwich, pasta salad, cherry crisp

Boosters pancake breakfast

Avon Band Boosters Club pancake breakfast will be Sunday, Dec. 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Commons in Avon High School.

Research club's holiday gala

The Avon Research Club will hold their Christmas party next Friday at 1 p.m. in the home of Jean Fischer.

Church's craft bazaar

Christmas In The Barn craft bazaar of Avon United Methodist Church will be Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a large variety of crafts , cookies for sale, and a coffee hour.

Planning underway by veterans

The Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7035 will meet Thursday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m. to make plans for the Children's Christmas Party, and for Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 15. The post home is located at 36950 Mills Road.

Niagara trip planned

Autumn Rebels are planning a December trip on Dec. 19 to view the Niagara Festival of Lights. For information, call John Vale at 934-5657 for information.

Christmas candlelight weekend

The 21st annual Avon French Creek Association's Christmas Candlelight weekend, along Detroit Rd., Ohio 611 and Stoney Ridge Rd., and east of Ohio 83, will begin tomorrow [12-3-99] from 7 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a free Lolly The Trolley shuttle to transport visitors from parking areas along SR 254 and SR 611 from Stoney Ridge and French Creek roads from east of SR 83 to west of SR 611 and south of I-90. There will be Christmas carol groups touring, and Christmas characters visiting the antique and craft shops along the route. Santa Claus will visit.

The antique and gift shops in the French Creek District will offer workshops, demonstrations and gift and decorating ideas, and more than $200 in gift certificates will be given away.

Visitors are asked to observe no-parking signs along Detroit Rd. Parking is available behind the police and fire station and near Countryside Antiques, the Country Heirs Shop and Piazza's Floral Greenhouse, east of Ohio 83.

The Avon High School choir recorded "The Messiah'' on compact disc. The CD costs $10, plus a $3 shipping fee. To place an order, call (440) 934-5038.

Development association meets

The Avon French Creek Development Association will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Avon Community Building, Eaton Drive.
