Research club meeting
The Avon Research Club will meet at the Avon Branch Library tomorrow at 1 p.m. Members are invited to bring mementos of crafts, hobbies, and other interests they are involved with.
Church's rummage sale
The fall rummage sale of the Avon United Methodist Church will be tomorrow and Saturday with a wide variety of merchandise available. Soup, sandwiches and desserts will be served from the kitchen. The sale will be Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Saturday is dollar bag day.
Investment club meeting
The Detroit Road Investment Club will meet Sunday, Oct. 10, following the 10:30 a.m. service at the Avon United Methodist Church.
City Council meeting
Avon City Council will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Avon City Hall, corner of Center and Chester roads.

Wednesday: Pizza, pasta salad, diced peaches
Thursday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, breadstick, tossed salad, fruit juicy
AVON MIDDLE/AVON HIGH
Today: Footlong chili dog, French fries, fruit cocktail
Friday: No school
Monday: Chicken nuggets, fries, fruit cup

Ladies Guild rummage sale
The Ladies Guild of Faith Lutheran Church will have its fall rummage and bake sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Veterans planning underway
The Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7035 will meet tonight at 8 o'clock in the post home on Mills Road. Plans for fall meetings and holidays are underway.
Join investment club
The Bears, Bulls & Beyond Investment Club will meet next Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Avon Branch Library. New members invited.
Parents club fund-raiser
The Holy Trinity Parents Club will hold a Night at the Races Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon. Doors will open at 6 p.m., post time is 6:30 p.m. For information, call Anna at 937-6415.
Library's author luncheon
Tickets are available at the Avon Branch Library for the Friends of Libraries' Annual Author Luncheon featuring Mary Doria Russell, science-fiction writer and author of the bestseller, 'The Sparrow.' The luncheon will be Thursday, Oct. 21, at noon at DeLuca's Place in the Park, Lorain. Tickets are $12.50 and must be purchased by Oct. 15.
