City council meeting
Avon City Council will meet next Monday for its regular session at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the corner of Chester and Center roads.
Garden club's tour
The Avon Garden Club summer tour will be of Glenda Lee Burns' Gardens at 240 Jaycox Road, Avon Lake, on Tuesday, July 20, at 7 p.m. For more information, call Gretchen Shimola at 937-6176. Guests are welcome.
Veterans meeting tonight
Avon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7035 will meet tonight for their only meeting this month in the post home, 36950 Mills Road, at 8 p.m. Several summer activities are under discussion.
City-wide yard sale
Avon's city-wide yard sale, known as the Aunt Teak and Uncle Junque sale, will be July 17 and 18, with participation of French Creek District shops. Registration and a list of all participants will be available at shops in the district. Saturday hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Watch for non-parking signs and park where designated.
Oktoberfest plans underway
Final plans are being completed for St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception's 24th Annual Oktoberfest planned for Sunday, July 25, at 3 p.m. on the church grounds. The event includes music with the Wayne & Ed Band, Al Battistelli Orchestra, games for children and adults, and a sampling of ethnic food. Admission is free. The church grounds are located at 2640 Stoney Ridge Road.
