Baby-sitting classes: Basic baby-sitting instruction, conducted by the American Red Cross, will be offered Saturdays, April 9 and 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Avon Library. Participants must attend both Saturday sessions to receive certification. Application forms are available at the library. Registration is handled by the American Red Cross. Book talk: Adults are invited to join the Evening Book Discussion Group Wednesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at the library. The group will discuss the book ''Grandmere.'' Copies of the book are available at the library. For more information, call 934-4743.
At the French Creek Nature Center:
On Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., preschoolers and an adult companion can discover spring through story, craft, and outdoor exploration.
On Easter Sunday there will be an egg hunt from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. inside the center. Bring a container.
Call by March 28 to join basketweaving instructor Laura Berthold in making a swing handle basket April 3 from noon to 3 p.m. Pay $19 at the door.
